autobiographic work, depicting Carlson fragmented life, showing the past with her Kiwi mind and present with a French eye. She blends life as per her Artworks...It might be why she has such a complicity with computers…Layers make sense; blending, fading are her everyday friends!
Carlson themes are recurrent: Flamencos, Toros, Corrida, Flamenco dancers, urban landscapes/NZ landscapes, family faces… appear in different ways from 2008, first solo exhibition in New Zealand.
She likes the duality of using Perspex with Solarplate Etching. Perspex allows to work in big scale, for a more graphic visual, an overall look.Etchings have an intimacy that provokes the watcher, obliging to look closer to appreciate details on paper.
Presented by Art by the Sea Gallery & the Auckland Festival of Photography, Carlson combines the 2 media again; the large artworks in Perspex are very detailed.
